After regretfully finishing ISTANBUL, I immediately began BOSPHORUS and was happily ensconced once again in the world of the brilliant writer’s childhood memories of a Turkey I search for whenever I am lucky enough to visit Turkey.As Orhan Pamuk tells of his own memories or unfolds the news of life and death in Istanbul, I am able to picture it all so well that K feel I too have lived it.
Reminded me of my childhood spent along the shores of this magical waterway.1956 to 1969. Those were great years and Orhan captures it beautifully.Reading the story sitting by the swimming pool in my FLORIDA home was certainly nostalgic.Could not hold back the tears.Tarik N AYASUN
The simple reason for deducting one star, is that it is a bit short. It is delightful reading, reminds me of "Istanbul; memories and the city", which seduced me to my first visit Easter 2013, but - you've barely begun when you're suddenly on the last page.
A consise but profound insight on what the Bosborous stands for Instanbullites, based on Papuk's readings of Ottoman writers and his own memories and experience. I loved it!
Not the best effort by author Pamuk. I expected better.
Lovely memories of one of the worlds greatest living writers.
Excellent book. Orhan Pamuk rocks !!!
